Facebook was launched on Wednesday, 4 February 2004, designed to enable Harvard University students to connect with campus friends and events. By Sunday – 4 days later – 650 students had registered. Three hundred more joined that Monday. After one month 10 000 more had registered.
In March Facebook decided to expand to other campuses. By the end of that Summer, 200 000 had joined. On 30 November of that year Facebook registered its millionth user. Today there are over 845 million!
Here’s the thought. What if, today, you and three friends decided on something – an idea, a project, any concept within the range of your imagination – that excites you, and will also be of benefit to the community in which you live. What if each of you pledged, within a week, to involve one other person. Support doubles every week. End of week one 8, week two 16, of week three 32. By week ten you will be at 4 096 by week twenty 4 196 304.
The immense power which is unleashed when one becomes many.
What will you start today?
