This website, and the book which was launched in South Africa on November 2011 aim to promote the practical application of the proverb

“It is better to light a brief candle, than to curse the darkness”.

Our 21st century society is focussed almost entirely on acquisition “the acquisition of assets, of knowledge, of social and business networks, of stuff.”

In the process, we have forgotten that giving is as important as acquiring, and constitutes a vital component of a balanced lifestyle. In the various articles found on this site, we will demonstrate:

• That it lies within the power of each of us to make a valuable contribution to our world and society – not only or necessarily of money, but in many other forms;
• That a lifestyle of giving brings enrichment, wealth and tranquillity to the giver;
• That ordinary people, by combining their efforts and skills and goodwill, can change the world beyond recognition.

This website does not belong to a specific organisation or religion.  Its sole purpose is to draw attention to the secret of giving, and to generate support for the community upliftment programmes which are discussed in the pages of the website. On the Community Projects page and in our blog , we feature stories of ordinary people doing incredible things to change the world around them. In our blog we also explore the philosophies and axioms which make a lifestyle of giving and sharing worthwhile.

It is our wish that many will gain inspiration from the contents of these pages.
